Pride Run & Walk Sponsor – Brooks

Brooks Running Company Logo

Brooks Sports, Inc., a Seattle-based running company has shown their support to Pride Run & Walk by donating the value of four pairs of shoes to us – worth approximately $800. The name Brooks was selected by Morris Goldenberg as an Anglicized substitute for his wife’s maiden name of Bruchs, which in turn comes from the Hebrew word baruch (ברוך) meaning ‘blessed’.

We are blessed to have your support! Thank you, @BrooksRunningCA!

VFR raises over $14,000 for community beneficiaries

The numbers are in and Vancouver Frontrunners are THRILLED to announce that proceeds from this year’s Pride Run and Walk has raised $14,082.69 for community beneficiaries, ‘Out In Schools’ and the ‘LOUD Foundations’ 20 under 20 program.

Profits raised from entry fees amounts to $11,668.30, which will be split between the two organizations 50/50. On our registration site was the ability for donors to give directly to Out In School’s and this garnered a further $2,414.39.

Cheques will be presented to both organizations on October 7th at the Yaletown Roundhouse at 6.20pm. If you happen to be around, please join us for this memorable moment.

Out In Schools
Out in Schools brings films into classrooms to engage youth through film in the promotion of safer and more inclusive learning environments, free from homophobia, transphobia and bullying. Out in Schools works with school boards, educators, community organizations and student-run Gay Straight Alliances to reduce isolation, foster belonging and increase the safety of learning environments for all youth in our communities.

Loud Foundation
The LOUD Foundation invests in future leaders of the Canadian LGBTQ community. They believe that by supporting the development of students who possess drive, vision, compassion and knowledge, they can improve society and increase awareness of our diverse community. The  20 under 20 program recognizes 20 BC youth under the age of 20 for creating safe spaces and promoting LGBTQ2+ inclusion and rights in their communities.

We couldn’t be happier with what we have acheived and it’s humbling to know that funds are going to two very deserving organizations that do a lot of work for our community.
