Pride Run & Walk Donations – Lofty Goal, Great Results!

Thank you to the nearly 40 friends who came to celebrate our club and to present cheques to LOUD and Out in Schools representing our awesome Pride Run efforts! We are proud to say that over $14,000 went to the two organizations: $8,466.22 to Out in Schools and $6,352.47 to LOUD.

Last year, the amount was just over $13,200 and this year, we had an ambitious goal for $20,000. Whilst a little off from our goal, this is an impressive amount for a volunteer-led and -organized event from a community sports club.

We obviously couldn’t have done it without the tremendous support and assistance from the Vancouver Pride Society and we are forever thankful for their continued partnership. We are also thankful for the online reach, word of mouth, support, and gratitude that both LOUD and Out in Schools have provided us.

VFR AGM and Holiday Party

Just after 3pm on December the 10th, the AGM commenced with an opening video put together by Kai Scott of photo’s that have been compiled over the year.  Following this were opening remarks by President, Rohan Hare where we received a quick glance of the club overall and were introduced to the current board members as well as one of our founding members, Erik Graff.

Peter Hurst took to the stage to give us a run down on the club’s financial summary before Ian Wong gave us a synopsis of the key races/events the club has participated in.
Guy McAuliffe shared with us some of the social events that Laurie Reemeyer and himself have organized over the year and thanked some of our hosts.
Rohan continued with sharing some statistics about our Online Media presence and gave us a run down on the results of Pride Run & Walk.
Awards were handed out, but unfortunately some of the recipients were not there to receive them. The awardees for 2016 include (in no particular order)

  • Steve Carlson & Craig Elworthy – “Accommodus Award”
  • Neil Boucher – “Leader of the Pack”
  • Chris Hallamore – “Rookie of the Year”
  • Anna Vander Munnik – “Spirit of VFR”
  • Marcus Tang, Rudi Klauser, & Neil Johnston – “Thank You”
  • Preston Corrigan – “Up and Coming”
  • Olivier Couture – “Beledeva Award”
  • Christopher Piche – “Athlete of the Year”
  • Neil Johnston – “Ananta Award”
  • Mark Rozenberg – “Presidents Award”

Clare Hauer then made an announcement we’ve been waiting several weeks to hear, and that’s the results of the logo vote. With a total of 27 out of 61 votes, the ‘City Skyline with Colour Blend***’ is now the new official logo for the club.
