The board of directors for Vancouver Frontrunners would like to thank everyone who came out on Saturday December the 5th to attend our annual general meeting which took place at the WhiteSpot after brunch. We had approximately 40 members in attendance and the meeting itself took just over an hour.
We had the pleasure of watching a slide show which recapped some amazing memories of the events that took place this past year. Thanks to Kai Scott for putting that together.
Some deserving people received awards, namely:
- Nick Soverel – Spirit of VFR
- Kangsoon Park – Epic Comeback Award
- Rookie of the Year – Mariegold Rondeau
- Getting ‘er Done – Gar Fisher
- Getting ‘er Done – Don Glass
- Best Supporting Athlete – Kai Scott
- Supportive Ex Afficio – Jag Bilkhu
Chocolates and treats were handed out to those who made some amazing accomplishments this year and 12 door prizes were handed out.
Some of the board members took to the floor to talk about the year past, such as social events, relays and athletic events, website/Facebook and newsletter statistics. Leifka got the crowd excited with some information about new team singlets soon to be available for purchase and Mark gave his President’s speech before moving on to the official items.
Vancouver Frontrunners are sad to see that Alex Cheung has stepped down as treasurer, however we’re incredibly fortunate that he will continue to provide his assistance and expertise as we transition to a new board.
The membership in attendance unanimously voted in Peter Hurst, Guy McAuliffe, Dar Rivers, and Jonathan Steblin to join the existing board members, which are Mark Rozenberg, Ian Wong, Clare Hauer, Rohan Hare, Leifka Vissers, and Laurie Reemeyer.
With the exception of announcing that Mark is stepping down as president and handing the reigns over to Rohan, roles and responsibilities amongst the new board will be decided at our next board meeting to be held in the early weeks of January. With 10 people on the board, you can be rest assured that the New Year will be an exciting and action packed year for VFR.
It has been an incredible year and none of it would be possible without our supportive and engaging members, our awesome volunteers, generous donors, and talented board members. This truly is one awesome club to be a member of!!!
